February 22nd Life Drawing sessions

New life drawings to the February 21st Sessions. I'd concentrated more on quality over the quantity of the poses (since the model was a bit uninspiring although greatly appreciated). It was actually more appealing for her to wear clothes which invoked some storytelling to a static pose and use the environment as a means to extend the personality to the small gesture.
I really miss the life drawing in Canada. I totally realize how lucky we were to have some amazing models who really know how to use their body as an extension of expression and the endurance it takes.

I've been taking caricature classes in Korea and its been a blast. I've learned a lot about conviction through the line that you draw-how each mark represents a language that forms a story of a face.

Lee Myung Bak

This was another series where I had gotten my kids to draw Lee Myung Bak, otherwise known as the president of South Korea.

This all started with my own caricature of him:
They were thrilled to see the resemblance and so I asked them to draw their own version. I did this with several classes ranging from 8-11 years of age. The younger ones didn't know who he was, and so it began to take over this completely entirely different persona. Lee Myung Bak became anything-the Everyman-and there's something about the perceptiveness of young generations and their own take of Korean culture that I had realized instead of me imposing on them.
I think parents later were worried that I was propagandizing Lee Myung Bak. So this series had to be discontinued. Enjoy nonetheless!

Practicing my brush skills.
Whenever I think of brush, I think of the movie Hero, where he's analyzing the one mans brush strokes to define how well he can use his weapon.
I can't recall the word exactly (something either Heaven, Sword, or Warrior)...either way, in order to write this symbol he needs to create an entirely new character at that time.

If anyone knows, let me know yo!
